THE PROJECT

Hospitality Energy Upgrade Programme

Delivering Measurable Energy, Cost, and Carbon Savings Across Four Hotels

Celtic Dynamics partnered with four leading hotels to deliver a coordinated programme of energy efficiency upgrades across their facilities.
Each hotel faced distinct operational challenges, from outdated heating systems to inefficient lighting and controls, but all shared the same goal: reduce energy use, lower emissions and enhance guest comfort through modern, sustainable technology.

Upgrades focused on heating, ventilation, lighting, and control systems, supported by detailed energy audits, technical design and funding guidance in line with SEAI sustainability principles.

These hospitality energy upgrade projects demonstrate the measurable savings and performance improvements achieved across four leading hotels.

Challenges

The hotels’ existing systems were energy-intensive and lacked sufficient controls for optimised performance.

Key challenges included:

  • High operating costs from ageing mechanical and lighting systems.
  • Inconsistent temperature control affecting guest comfort.
  • Limited monitoring capability for energy performance.
  • Increasing ESG and sustainability requirements from corporate stakeholders.

Solutions

Celtic Dynamics undertook comprehensive energy audits and developed tailored upgrade strategies for each property, aligning with the client’s sustainability and operational priorities.

Installation of multi-pipe heat pumps replacing outdated boilers.
Integration of Building Management Systems (BMS) for real-time monitoring.
Efficiency Solution Air Handling Unit (AHU) upgrades for improved ventilation and control.
Window and door fabric upgrades to reduce heat loss.
Full LED lighting retrofits across guest and service areas.
Variable-speed drives (VSDs) on large chillers to optimise cooling efficiency.
Dishwasher heat recovery systems with rapid paybacks.
Solar PV feasibility studies for future renewable integration.

All works were planned and delivered in active hotel environments, ensuring minimal disruption to operations and guest experience.
